Become the athlete

A 90 day program that will take you on a journey to the mastery of training for obstacle course racing. 

From strength work, to OCR based conditioning and obstacle mastery

Assessment

During the pre-week phase we have some initial assessments to tailor the future program to your exact needs. Whether your beginner or experienced the assessment week will ensure your program is specific to your ability

Obstacle Mastery

Working to simulate certain obstacles out on the field we will work to improve your grip, carries and transition times. All crucial to save seconds off of your race times.

Strength

Working from bodyweight to moves with the barbell and kettlebells, the aim is to ensure your strong enough come race day to prevent injury and boss those races

Direction

Videos with clear demonstrations of each exercise as well as a detailed fortnightly video run through of the next two weeks will help answer any questions you may have

Conditioning

Utilising the latest science in metabolic conditioning you will have access to workouts which will fully condition your body ready for race day

Support

Your coach is on hand to answer any questions that you may have via messaging app. They are here to support you get to where you want to be and offer any guidance necessary

Assessment Week

Week 0

During the initial assessment week we will undertake a number of strength, grip and OCR based test to help program your future workouts. This ensures your program is tailored to you and not just a one size fits all. During this week we will also undertake an OCR benchmark which we will visit later on in the program to see how far your performance has come.

The Strength Phase

Weeks 1 – 4

During this phase we will work on relative strength, utilising the barbell and kettle bells to help build up a base level of strength before taking on the future phases. These sessions will help set you up for your season ahead and prevent your from becoming injured. We will also work on your running technique and building up a base level of running before moving to more specific OCR speeds

The Conditioning Phase

Weeks 5 – 8

This phase is pretty tough as we work on our anaerobic system and metabolic conditioning. The aim is to get used to being in a higher heart rate zone to make it more comfortable as well as building power in our legs. Expect Fast paced workouts, interval runs and some carries!

The Mastery Phase

Weeks 9 – 12
 

In this phase we get specific to OCR racing as we move to master race day conditions. We will have a load of workouts which will test your grip under fatigue, your transition speed between obstacles and work to simulate the OCR race itself. Expect carries, grip work and some threshold based runs!
